What are the three types of sleep apnea?

3 Types Of Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea – OSA is the most common type of sleep apnea, and this is the type of sleep apnea that’s most common. It occurs when you lay down to sleep, and the muscles and soft tissue in your throat relax, falling into and obstructing the airway.

Central Sleep Apnea – Much less common is central sleep apnea, where the brain doesn’t signal the muscles that control breathing. People with this type of sleep apnea rarely ever snore.

Complex Sleep Apnea – When both central and obstructive sleep apnea are present, we refer to it as complex sleep apnea.
