The holiday season is upon us, and your calendar is filled with things to do, people to see, and places to go. Although this is a wonderful time of year to spend with friends and loved ones, it can also be extremely difficult to find the time to schedule dental visits.
At Dental Care of Corona, we understand how busy you are, but we also know that many of our patients have unused dental benefits that are set to expire at the end of the year.
So, how can you make the most of the dental insurance you pay for?
Insurance Terms You Need to Know
Most dental insurance plans function on a “use it or lose it” basis, meaning that if you have remaining benefits, you must use them before the 31st of December.
Here are some important insurance terms you should know:
- Deductible — This amount is what you’re responsible for BEFORE your dental insurance benefits kick in. Once you’ve met your deductible, your insurance begins to pay for part or all of your treatment, depending on the service.
- Annual maximum — This is the maximum amount your insurance will pay for the calendar year. This amount varies, depending on your policy.
How Can You Get the Most from Your 2025 Benefits?
There are some things you can do before the end of the year to get the most from your coverage, including the following:
- Schedule preventive visits. — If it’s time for a checkup and cleaning, give us a call to schedule an appointment. Most dental insurance pays 100% for preventive care, including x-rays and exams.
- Schedule restorative care. — If you need a dental crown or other restorative work, consider splitting the appointments across two calendar years. We can do part of the work in 2025, using this year’s annual maximum, and the other part in 2026, using next year’s annual maximum.
